Philippe grew up in the scenic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest and has been enamored with taking photographs ever since his first taste of it in high school. After graduating, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Seattle where he received his degree in 2001 in commercial photography with a focus on product photography. Even though his prospect looked good and he left school with three open job offers....it just didn't feel right.
Since then, Philippe has been traveling and building his nature and wildlife portfolio. His travels have taken him all over the United States and across the world to the eastern seaboard of Australia and both the north and south islands of New Zealand.
When he isn't taking photographs, Philippe has been volunteering his time with a non-profit environmental organization, The Surfrider Foundation, which has been working on improving our knowledge base on coastal waters. And since the summer of 1998, he has been fighting wildfires across the western states. All these experiences have deepened Philippe's appreciation, love, and respect for our mother earth.
